All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with the registered manager and three care workers. People who live in the home and their relatives told us that people enjoyed living at the home and felt well looked after. One person told us 'I think the place is fantastic, I can not find fault with it. It is more like a hotel.' One relative told us "I think we were very lucky X was placed here. I think it is excellent."

We observed care workers speaking to people politely and in a calm and friendly manner. We observed people during lunch and saw care workers wearing suitable protective clothing such as aprons and gloves before serving food. People were asked before being assisted to eat. Choices were offered by the care workers and people were able to chat and take their time.

Care was delivered which reflected people's individual needs and preferences. Care plans were regularly updated and we saw evidence of a six monthly care review involving the person and their family.

We saw that the home was clean and tidy and there were adequate procedures in place for infection control and cleanliness.

We saw there were policies and procedures in place for dealing with for complaints and concerns The manager told us that people were given a satisfaction questionnaire to complete at their 6 month review.

During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

At our last inspection we found the provider was not ensuring staff were using supporting records to monitor and identify changes in people's health and well being. Staff had failed to evaluate the monitoring system and notify the relevant healthcare professionals when appropriate. This placed people at risk as care and treatment was not always planned and delivered in a way which ensured peoples safety and welfare.

At this inspection the provider showed us evidence which demonstrated they were meeting people's care and welfare needs. This is because they had taken action to ensure that staff had been trained to use supporting records correctly. Staff were monitoring peoples well being and had reported concerns identified to the relevant person.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with six people who were able to give us their view of the services provided. They told us that they were treated with respect and that staff were kind. Comments included, 'a nice carer brought me this blanket; people are very well looked after'. 'Staff are lovely, they are friendly, they chat to you, and will always help you; they are a good bunch'.

People told us that they had no concerns or worries about the care they received. They told us that they could approach staff at any time if they were worried or concerned.
