During a routine inspection

The Lodge provided care in a homely and relaxed environment. People within the home had limited communication skills due to their learning disabilities. Therefore we spent time observing how staff interacted and cared for people.The staff were dedicated and were aware of people's individual needs. An advocate for one person living in the home said,"he is quite happy." Visiting professional were complementary about the staff. A district nurse said, " carers are very helpful and welcoming on arrival and during district nurse visits." Improvements were needed in documentation to ensure the most current assessments and care plans were available for staff. There were not sufficient staff available to support people to carry out activities they enjoyed within the community. It is important that all mandatory training and supervisions are kept up to date to ensure staff feel supported within their roles.
