All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who used the service, relatives and staff at the home. People told us “The home is absolutely brilliant; I’d recommend it to anybody”, and “The staff are very kind and helpful here”. Another person told us “I am on first name terms with all the staff; they all understand my needs”.

We saw that care plans had been written and regularly reviewed based on people's individual assessments of their needs and contained detailed information. We saw evidence of monitoring and regular evaluations of the support that was provided, together with involvement and liaison with relatives and various health professionals, to ensure they were kept informed of changes in people's conditions when necessary.

Staff told us that they received the training required to carry out their roles well, and that they felt well supported by the management team and other staff. We noted that the manager had implemented regular audits across various areas of the service, to ensure that any issues of concern could be quickly addressed. We found that the provider had implemented ways to gather feedback on the service from people, as well as informal discussions with people about how to improve the service.

25 October 2012

During a routine inspection

We spoke with 6 people out of 35 at the home at the time of the inspection. We also used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is a specific way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us.

One person told us that 'it's very nice here, and staff are very helpful', Another person told us that 'staff go out of their way to help you'.

All the people we spoke with told us that they were happy at the home, and appreciated the support given by staff. All the people we spoke with told us that staff regularly asked them if they were happy with the care and support they received, and one person told us that she 'had no complaints, as the place is brilliant'.

We observed staff talking with people in a polite and relaxed manner, and found that staff addresses each person they spoke with by name.
