During a routine inspection
We observed that the person living in the home appeared to be comfortable and relaxed. They told us they enjoyed living in the home and they would not want to change anything about it. We noted there were kind interactions between the provider and person.
When we inspected the service in October 2012 we found improvements were needed to ensure the person was kept safe and received appropriate care. This included ensuring the provider and the volunteers used were appropriately trained. The person's care record needed to show an accurate reflection of the current care they were receiving. The provider needed to improve their knowledge and procedures of how to report allegations of abuse appropriately.
During this inspection we found the provider had not updated or completed training that would normally be expected when providing support and care to someone. The provider was not aware of how to protect the person from abuse or what the correct procedures were when responding to alleged abuse.
The person's care needs had been assessed so they could be appropriately supported by their carers and risks had been identified and assessed. The person's medicines were appropriately managed so the risks associated with them were effectively managed. There was evidence that the volunteer had received appropriate training so they could support the person safely.
