All Inspections

13, 16 September 2013

During a routine inspection

We visited the agency on the 12th September 2013 and spoke to the manager and staff employed there. We also spoke to people using the agency on 16th September 2013. We looked at outcomes 2, 4, 9, 12 and 16 and found that the service was compliant with these outcomes.

We spoke with three people using the service during our inspection process. All comments received were generally positive. They told us that staff were kind and caring and that staff listened to their ideas and views about how their care should be provided.

Care plans emphasised people's right to self-determine their care and how their care was delivered by the service so they could live their lives as independently as possible within their home.

Peoples' capacity to make their wishes known was recorded and appropriate communication methods used. The right of people to take informed risks had been acknowledged and risk assessments ensured a balance of safety and choice.

During our inspection we assessed standards relating to consent to care and treatment and care and welfare and how people were supported to be involved in the planning of their own care. We also looked at how they were supported with medicines. Standards relating to staff recruitment and monitoring the quality of service provision were also inspected. We did not identify any concerns in any of the outcome areas we assessed.

3 January 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people using the service and a relative of another during our inspection process. All comments received were positive. They told us that staff were kind and caring and that their privacy and dignity was always respected.

Comments we received included:

"All my carers are just great. Everyone has been very nice indeed."

"They (the carers) helped me to shower and get dressed. They always respected my wishes and I thank them for being so attentive."

"The service my wife gets is first class. It is absolutely excellent. We are very satisfied with everything."

Prior to our inspection we liaised with the local authority, who currently had no concerns about this service.

During our inspection we assessed standards relating to care and welfare and how people were supported to be involved in the planning of their own care. We also looked at how they were safeguarded from abuse. Standards relating to staff training and monitoring the quality of service provision were also inspected. We did not identify any concerns in any of the outcome areas we assessed.

During a routine inspection

People provided with the service appear very satisfied with the service received and were very complimentary about individual staff members. All staff were helpful and easy to talk to which took away their anxieties with regard to their need for support.

Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and they looked forward to their visits and had confidence in their abilities.

Instead of having to have numerous assessments for aids and equipment as well as personal care, there was just one person from the reablement team who could sort out all their care needs and co-ordinate their 'package of care'.

Comments from people receiving the service indicate that the service provided is reviewed and evaluated at every stage to ensure the service is appropriate and to meet individual needs.

There was evidence from comments that staff are reliable and had never let them down. People using the service stated they were always told which staff were coming and it was always the same group of staff so they knew them all.
