During a routine inspection

In this report the name of two registered managers appears. One was not in post and not managing the regulatory activities at this location at the time of inspection. Their name appears because they were still registered manager on our registered at the time.

During our inspection we spoke with three members of staff and four people who used the service. People told us they were happy living at Manor Park. One person said, 'It's brilliant here, they really understand me, we've had some new staff recently but they are spot on, everyone wants the best for us.'

People told us they were involved in decisions and changes to the service and they were given choices.

We found people's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plans.

We found there were infection control systems in place and these were adhered to.

Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.

The service had a complaints system in place and staff confirmed they were happy in dealing with any complaints. One staff member said, 'We have a straight forward procedure on how to record things, so I'm happy with what to do, the manager would investigate anything and we would alert her straight away if it was urgent, we always try and help though.'

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with three people who used the service and three members of staff. People told us they were happy living at Manor Park. One person said, "They do as much as they can, it's my home and I like to be involved."

People and staff told us that consent was gained before care was delivered.

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. One person said, "The staff are really good, they work really hard, they never stop but they are always there when we need them."

We saw that the provider had a safeguarding policy in place which detailed the actions to be taken should staff have concerns about care or witness a safeguarding incident.

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

We confirmed the provider had a detailed and effective quality audit process in place. One staff member showed us how the audits were used to record daily domestic duties.

During a routine inspection

People told us that they liked living at the home, they were involved in decisions and the staff treated them well.

One person said, "The staff go through the care plan with me every week and update it with me."

Another person said,"The staff are good, they treat us well, we have enough staff, they help us."

The provider is contracted with the local council to provide the service. Since our inspection visit two officers from the local council have also carried out a visit to the home to monitor how well the service is operating. We contacted one of the officers who told us that they had found that the service was well managed and provided an acceptable level of care.
