During a routine inspection

We spoke to different people about this service to gain a balanced overview of what people experienced, what they thought and how they were cared for. We spoke to two service users and three staff members, including the home manager. We spent time observing people using the service, to see how they were cared for and how staff interacted with them.

We saw that people were involved in planning their care and daily activities and consented to the care and support that they received.

People using the service said that they felt safe living in the home and that staff were friendly and kind.

Staff knew how to identify signs of abuse and what action to take if it was suspected.

People said that the staff were, 'wonderful' and that they, 'take good care of me.'

We took the opportunity to observe that the property was safe and suitable for the registered activity. We found that it was although some improvements could be made, which the manager was aware of and had been discussed with the provider.

We saw that all staff had received comprehensive training appropriate for supporting and caring for the people using the service. There were adequate numbers of staff at all times.

We saw that provider had a system in place for managing complaints and that service users were able to raise issues or concerns with staff at any time or during regular review meetings.

As part of this inspection, we asked relatives to comment on the management of the home and the standard of care provided. The feedback we received was positive. We also asked Cheshire East local authority for their views of the service and they expressed no concerns.

We spoke in brief with four people who lived in The Arclid. We spoke with two people about various aspects of their care and support and briefly spoke with two other people. . We were invited into four people's flats within the home, which were designed to meet their needs and decorated to their taste. People who used the service told us that they 'liked' living in The Arclid.

During the visit, we saw positive interactions and engagement between staff and the people who used the service to ensure they received the care and support they needed. There was a relaxed atmosphere throughout the day of our visit.
