During a routine inspection

People who used the service we spoke with told us they were happy with the service they received. People told us that the staff were respectful and were almost always on time in attending their home. People said that information was provided to help them to make an informed decision about their treatment, and this was done before the care was first provided.

People told us they were always treated in a respectful manner, and the staff knew them well and understood how to attend to their needs. Everyone we spoke with said that the staff explained what they were doing and involved them in decisions about their care, and in reviewing their care plans. One person said: 'the staff are excellent and very respectful', and another said: 'the agency are good at contacting us about any staff changes, and staff that support me can speak my first language which is helpful'. These comments were reflective of the comments we received from the majority of people we spoke with. People said they were given choices about how their care was delivered and that they felt safe and well cared for.

The staff understood how to keep people safe and understood their responsibilities for reporting concerns if necessary. The provider ensured that safe recruitment practices were adhered to in order to keep people safe. There was a system in place to effectively respond to people's concerns and complaints.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who used the service who told us they were very happy with the service they received and that the staff were very helpful and were always on time. One person said; "they help her but let her sort out some things that she can do for herself like her medication". Another person told us; "the staff are very good and very respectful and I trust them". Another person told us; 'people from the office come to visit sometimes, to see that the staff are doing their job well, and I can call the office if I need any information or have any concerns'.

All of the people who used the service that we spoke with told us that they felt safe with the staff and had no concerns. Some people told us about the way that staff always recorded their visit using a special phone system so that the office knew they had arrived. They said that the staff always had their identification, which gave them confidence that they came from the agency.

Most of the people we spoke with who used the service said they knew about their care plan, and that they had been asked for their views when reviews were carried out. We reviewed information about six people's care and found that their care needs were being assessed and planned so that their needs were met.

We looked at staff training and supervision records and spoke with care staff and found that they had adequate training and supervision and were supported by the agency's management to do their job.
