We spoke with seven parent/guardians. They all told us they were pleased with the service being provided by The Children's Society Solihull. They told us staff were well trained and understood the needs of their child. They said there was good communication between themselves and staff. They said the support needs of their child were reviewed and changed where necessary. They were all very appreciative of the service and most told us they would have liked funding for more hours to be provided.

We spoke with six staff. They told us they received good management support to help them meet the needs of the young people they were working with.

We looked at records and were satisfied they provided staff with information about the support needs of young people in their care and any risks associated in providing the support.

We checked the medicines policy of the service and how this was put into practice. We were satisfied both staff and parents had a clear understanding of their responsibilities relating to medicine management.

We looked at the way the service managed complaints. We were told they had not received any formal complaints. Parents spoken with told us they had not needed to complain about any aspect of the service. They said they would feel able to voice concerns if there were any.

We looked at recruitment practice. The service undertook relevant checks to ensure staff were safe to work with young people.

The family we spoke with told us that they get on very well with the staff. The interaction we saw between the child, family and care staff showed that the focus is on involving family members and the child in their care and wellbeing.

Discussion with staff showed that the Children's Society is professionally managed. There was a good level of communication between families, care staff and the management team.
