During a routine inspection

People were treated with dignity and respect and were fully involved in the planning of their care. People told us they were treated extremely well and spoken to in an appropriate manner, with respect and kindness.

Assessments and care planning were comprehensive enabling an effective and responsive service to be provided. People received a consistent and flexible service.

Staff received appropriate support and training and had the skills and competence to meet people's health and social care needs.

There were effective arrangements for the monitoring of the quality of the service. We found people were very satisfied with the service they received. Comments from questionnaires included: "fantastic service, honestly could not manage without it", "we have always found all care staff very respectful and capable", "It has enhanced my quality of life", "Excellent care and support to enable me to remain independent".

During a routine inspection

We visited the offices of North Somerset Crossroads Ltd where we reviewed records and care plans and spoke to the registered manager and another member of staff. We spoke with two people who used the service and one carer. People were very positive about the care that was provided. One carer said "Everything is immaculate. After staff have helped my relative to have a shower, all the towels are folded and the bathroom is spotless". Another person said " Our contact with all the staff has been very rewarding and we are grateful". Other comments were "Both carers are very helpful and willing" and "We look forward to their visit".

People said that staff were courteous and helpful and that they felt safe in their care. They were knowledgeable and took time to do things properly. People who used the service appreciated the fact that care workers always came at a time that was convenient and were always prompt. The felt involved in their care and were confident that they would always receive a helpful response from office staff if they phoned about a problem.

Staff were supported and managed effectively and were encouraged to up-date their skills and knowledge. Many of them had gained nationally recognised qualifications in health and social care. This has resulted in the delivery of high standards of care to people who use the service.
