During an inspection in response to concerns

People living in the home were happy with the care they are currently receiving. They were complimentary of the care given to them by staff. One person stated that they felt 'at home and safe' in this service and that staff were 'kind and attentive'. People reported that they can choose to stay in their own rooms or join others in the communal areas as they wish, but if they choose to remain in their rooms, staff are always popping in and offering drinks and assistance when required. People who require more assistance than others reported that their needs were currently being met.

Devon County Council and the local District Nursing staff reported that the care currently being provided to people in this home had improved since November 2010, and that they had no current concerns about anyone living in the home at this time. Devon County Council has now lifted a suspension on placements for this home, therefore allowing new people to move into Puddavine Court.

The provider has informed us that there is currently no manager in post at this service, but the area manager is continuing to work full time in the home, supporting staff in maintaining improvements, until such time as a new manager is appointed.
