During an inspection looking at part of the service

The purpose of this inspection undertaken on 22 October 2013 was to assess improvements made in relation to shortfalls identified during our previous inspection visit of 05 June 2013. We did not request information directly from people using the service on this occasion.

Since our last visit we saw that care planning documentation and records had been audited and improvements had been made

5 June 2013

During a routine inspection

People that we spoke with were complimentary and satisfied with the care and support they received from the agency. They made comments such as, 'The staff are really helpful and reliable' and, 'The staff are kind and respectful when they support my relative.' People told us that the care staff worked in a respectful way that promoted dignity and respect at all times. People using the agency felt that their views were taken seriously and any concerns were listened to and properly dealt with.

A wide range of care and support was provided to ensure that peoples' needs were being met. There was evidence of people's agreement and involvement in the planning of their care and support.

The agency had an efficient recruitment procedure in place so that only staff who were suitable to work with vulnerable people were employed.

The agency had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of the service that was provided to people. However, the service may find it useful to extend surveys to relatives and healthcare professionals who are in regular contact with the service.

Recording in some documents needs to be improved so that care planning documentation was up to date, accurate and consistent to ensure that people received appropriate care.
