All Inspections

5 March 2013

During a routine inspection

There were three people at home during our visit. We spoke to two people. One person told us "I like it here". Another person showed us their room and told us they were happy living there. During our visit we observed staff caring for people at the home. We saw that staff spoke to people in a caring and friendly manner.

We saw that where people had been identified as not having capacity, other independent healthcare professionals were involved in the development of their care plans such as the occupational therapist (OT) and the social worker. Best interest meetings for people lacking capacity were also carried out by the provider.

There were a number of risk assessments carried out internally by the provider and by external contractors to ensure people's safety. The fire alarms were tested weekly and fire evacuation procedures were held every three months. We saw evidence that Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) was carried out every year.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We met one person living at the home, who looked happy and relaxed. He showed us his room and told us he liked the colour of the walls and that he was going to get some new furniture.

We saw there had been repairs and redecoration since our last visit and that there was new furniture in the communal rooms.

10 November 2011

During a routine inspection

People who live at the home told us that they were happy there. They said that the staff were kind and caring. They appeared happy, relaxed and comfortable.

Although people told us they were happy and we saw that they were well supported, we found that failures to maintain a safe environment may put people at risk. We also found people's needs may not always be fully met because the staff have not had training in some aspects of their role.
