During a routine inspection

We spoke on the telephone with five people using the service and the relatives of two other people using the service. All made positive comments about care staff and the service they or their relatives received. All told us they knew how to make a complaint if they needed to.

One person using the service said 'I have a care plan and my carer comes on time and does the things in it. I am well satisfied with Brook Street and my carer'. A relative said 'I am satisfied with the agency. They always turn up on time and do what they have to do. They treat my mum with respect and they respect our home. They carried out an assessment when my mum first used the service and asked us what she needed'.

We spoke with two members of staff. One member of staff said 'Brook Street makes sure I have the right training so that I can support the people I provide care to'. The other member of staff said 'I encourage and support people just out of hospital to get back on their feet. The agency makes sure I am properly trained. They match our skills and experience with the needs of the people we support'.

Croydon, Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich and Bromley local authorities commissioned services from B S Project Services Limited. We contacted these local authorities commissioning/contract monitoring teams. All told us they had no concerns about the service.

We found that appropriate recruitment checks were undertaken before staff began work.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to three people using the service and the relatives of three other people using the service on the telephone. All made positive comments about care staff and the service they or their relatives received. All told us they knew how to make a complaint if they needed to. One person who uses the service said 'The staff are very good, they always turn up on time and do what they are supposed to do' another person said 'Staff are always on time, they are very helpful and the service works very well', another person said 'My carer is very good, I am completely satisfied with the service I get'.

A relative of a person using the service said 'Brook Street is an excellent service, superb in fact; I would recommend them to anyone. The staff always go that little bit extra to help' another relative said 'The staff are very professional and seem to know what they are doing' another relative said 'I am very happy with the service my relative receives, staff are very attentive, we are happy with what they do'. All of the relatives we spoke to told us they had been consulted about the care and support their relatives needed.

Croydon, Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich and Bromley local authorities currently commission services from B S Project Services Limited. We contacted these local authorities commissioning/contract monitoring teams. All told us they had no concerns about the service.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to some people who use the service, they all showed us their care plans and told us they could depend on the service; they had regular carers that turned up on time and completed the tasks recorded in their care plans.

One person told us, 'Last winter when all the snow storms came my care worker turned up always on time, I really appreciated that'.

Another person told us, "the care worker that supports me is wonderful, they treat me well, I have used the service for a long time and have been very happy with it".

All of the people who use the service and their relatives told us that they knew who to speak to if they had any cause to complain.

One person told us, 'I can tell the staff or call the office if I have a complaint and I know they would do something about it, I don't have anything to complain about because they always offer a good service'.
