All inspections: Church Street Short Breaks

The home provides respite care for up to four people at any one time and is occupied with both residents and staff during the hours of 10am ' 3pm however it is currently used short term whilst alterations are being made to the nearby Broadmead day centre.

During the inspection staff told us that people were treated with dignity and respect at all times and people's support needs were person-centred. Staff commented that there was a range of information that was used to develop people's support plans which enabled the plans to be detailed and focus on people's personalised needs.

On the day of our visit there was only one person at the service, we observed staff interaction with the person and noted that the person who was dressed appropriately, comfortable and engaged well with staff. We did not speak to this person during our visit.

Staff commented that there was a range of information that was used to develop people's support plans which enabled the plans to be detailed and focus on people's personalised needs. Staff told us that training in relation safeguarding was detailed and enabled staff to fully understand the different types of abuse and how to report abuse. We were also told about the complaints process and the fact that there were very few complaints about the service. There hadn't been any complaints in the previous 14 months.

We interacted with people that used the service and they were dressed appropriately, comfortable and engaged well with the staff providing support.

People who stayed at Church Street Short breaks told us that they always enjoyed their stay.

The people we spoke with said they were happy with their care.

Staff spoken with told us:

'The manager is very supportive and will always listen and always respond to us if we need her.'

'We get loads of training. It is always kept up to date.'

'It makes us feel equipped to do the job.'

'We have staff meetings and supervision.'

'The staff are great. We are a good team.'
