During an inspection looking at part of the service

We had previously inspected this service on 20 and 21 August 2012 and found a number of areas of non-compliance. During this visit we found that there had been significant improvements at Oakfield since our last inspection.

We saw evidence that care plans had been reviewed, with the involvement of people who used the service, to ensure the information contained was accurate and up to date. Improvements had been made in the management and administration of medicines. Staff had received training updates in a number of areas as well as supervision. We also saw evidence that the organisation was monitoring the quality of the service provided on a regular basis.

In this report the name of a registered manager appears who was not in post and not managing the regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still a Registered Manager on our register at the time.

During a routine inspection

We asked the people who use the service about the choice and control that they had had over their daily lives. They told us that they had chosen their daily routine, such as when they had got up and what they did throughout the day. They confirmed that staff had supported them to access activities within the local community when they had wanted to.

People told us they had been happy with the support they had received from staff that work for Oakfield. One person told us staff had arranged their hospital appointments and had made transport arrangements to get them to their appointments.
