During a routine inspection

There were six people living in the home at the time of our visit. Two people were out at day care and one person had gone to visit their family. Two people that we spent time with told us they were very happy living in the home. Comments included. 'I like living here because the food is nice. We go out a lot and I like that we have a cat.'

People's individual needs had been assessed and recorded to ensure that the home could meet both their support needs and personal wishes.

For each person living in the home there was a detailed plan of care in place. The plans identified potential risks and included people's physical and emotional healthcare needs.

People were protected from risk of abuse or harm by there being safeguarding policies and procedures in place. Staff had received relevant training and those that spoke with us were aware of their responsibilities.

Evidence we saw showed us that people were supported by a well-trained and well supported staff team.

There was a regular cycle of quality audits undertaken both in the home and by the providers to ensure that the home was kept under review.

A family member told us. "I am happy with the care my daughter receives. The staff are very good, they keep me informed and phone me if there are any problems".

During a routine inspection

Due to the nature of people's learning disability we were not always able to ask direct questions to people. We did however chat with them and obtained their views as much as possible. We also used a range of methods to help us understand people's experiences.

We spoke with three of the six people who lived at the home and they said they were happy at the home. We also spoke to three family members and they told us that their relatives were supported by the staff to receive the care they needed.

Comments we had from people were positive and they included: "It is a good place, I like living here' and 'The staff are very nice." They all said their privacy and dignity was respected and they felt safe at the home. People told us they did different things each day which they enjoyed.

The manager told us that staff would always respect people's wishes and involve them as much as possible.
