During a routine inspection

We found that people who used the service and their relatives were fully involved in their care. They had signed agreement to their support plan.

People told us they were well cared for and felt the service provided was excellent. Comments made included:

'Very satisfactory, absolutely great, all of them are so friendly',

'My mum is a very lucky person having the service from Tattenhall, it's excellent',

'They are excellent, I trust them to look after their clients',

'Very, very good indeed. There is good continuity of carers, which is very important for people',

We found that people's needs were assessed and care and support was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. Staff demonstrated knowledge and understanding of protecting people from abuse. They had been trained in safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults.

We found that all the required information relating to workers was obtained and documented.

We saw evidence of a suitable complaints policy in place. Complaints were logged and dealt with appropriately.

During a routine inspection

We saw ten surveys completed in February 2013 by the people who used the service which indicated people were happy with the support and care provided. Some comments made were:-

'It's a very good service. I'm very grateful.'

'The care is wonderful. The carers are polite, prompt and well dressed.'

'The carers are very good.'

We spoke to three people who used the service who told us that they were happy with the service provided. They said they were asked their views about the care provided and that they were getting the support and care they required. Some comments made were:-

'It's absolutely marvellous. I get wonderful support. It has made a difference to my life.'

'I am very pleased, the staff are very caring. They don't rush you and they listen to me and ask me what I need.'

'It's a very good service and I would definitely recommend it to others.'

Records showed that people had been assessed before they began to use the service and they had a care plan in place showing the support they needed.

Staff were aware of the action to be taken to safeguard vulnerable adults from abuse.

There were systems in place to obtain the views of the people who used the service and their relatives about how the service operated.

We asked Cheshire West and Chester Council for information about how the service operated. No information of concern was reported.

During a routine inspection

People we spoke with were very positive about the service they received from Tattenhall Local Care Limited. They told us that staff listen to any worries, concerns or complaints they may have and that they were confident these would be listened to and acted upon. People told us they were encouraged to take part in planning their care and on how they wished to be supported by staff. They also told us that any changes to their care and support plans are first discussed with them and that their views are listened to. They told us that staff were very reliable and that 'you could depend on them turning up regardless of the weather conditions'.

People who use the service told us the support they receive helps keep them safe and to be as independent as possible. They told us they like the staff who support them and who 'treat them with respect'. They also told us there are kept informed of changes to the staff that were to visit and support them.

Overall people who use they service told us were very satisfied with quality of the care and support they receive.

Information we received from health and social care professionals and other organisations as part of this review told us they had no concerns or worries about the care and support offered by Tattenhall Local Care. We were told they provide 'a high quality service' and 'have made a difference to the rural area of Cheshire' in which they operate.
