18 November 2013

During a routine inspection

At our visit to the provider's office on 18 November 2013 we saw that care records were detailed and personalised. They provided staff with clear information on how to meet the person's needs safely. We spoke by telephone with the representative of a person who used the service. They told us, 'The quality of the care is as good as you could get anywhere.'

There were clear policies and procedures in place to support safe medication management. People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.

We found that the staff team were effectively led. Staff members were provided with the training and support to enable them to provide safe care to meet people's needs. We spoke with two staff by telephone. They confirmed that they felt well supported in their role.

The provider had an effective system to seek the views of people who used the service. The representative of the person who used the service told us that their views were listened to. They also told us, 'The staff team of regular carers are very reliable. The staff are brilliant. They all know what they are doing."

6 December 2012

During a routine inspection

We were not able to speak to the one person using the service or their relatives at the time of the visit on 06 December 2012. The manager showed us the records, explained the care package and provided confirmation that the service operated smoothly and to the family's satisfaction for seven years.

A very detailed care plan addressed how all assessed needs should be met. Daily visits by the nurse ensured that all nursing needs were responded to and delivered as planned.

A designated team of seven care workers and a lead nurse were providing all care for the person and worked cooperatively and closely with the family members, ensuring that the best interest principle was used in care planning and delivery.

There were no formal complaints during the full seven years of delivering this agreed nursing package of care.
