People who received a service from the scheme told us that they had been involved in the planning of their placement. They also told us their views were sought and they knew who to complain to if there was a problem and that they received ongoing support from their allocated key worker. Comments included; "I am really settled and more than happy", "I go to college and have a job" and "I'm loving it."

We spoke with some shared lives carers who told us that the scheme was very well organised. They also said the assessment process was thorough and the training programme was useful. Comments included; "The service is spot on", "There is always someone at the end of the phone and we get face to face support too", "Any problems get sorted quickly" and "The training is excellent, very informative and useful."

We saw the pre-approval training for the prospective shared lives carers was well planned and covered a variety of areas, this ensured the shared lives carers gained a good understanding of how to meet people's needs.

Care files showed us that contact with other professionals and agencies was undertaken when necessary and joint working with the community learning disability team was carried out regularly.

People who used the service and some shared lives carers told us their views and complaints were listened to and that any problems were quickly dealt with.
