During a routine inspection

We spoke with eight people who used the service and three of their relatives. People told us that they had agreed the levels of services they needed and had signed the care plan to show their agreement.

People told us that staff generally arrived and left at the designated times. They stayed for the full length of time and checked all was well before leaving. People told us they were happy with the agency staff and felt safe in their company. One person told us that staff always made sure the doors were locked when they left which made the house feel safe and secure.

Staff received induction and follow on training to ensure they could meet the needs of the people who used the service. Comments about the staff included; "staff are delightful"; "staff are very helpful" and "I look forward to their visits, they are all nice and kind and make a vast difference to my life."

People said the agency sent them questionnaires to gain their perceptions of the staff and services provided and enable them to have their say about how the service was run.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with six people who used the services of agency and asked them about their experiences of how the service involved them and kept them informed. They said they were given an information pack about the service and staff were introduced to them before the service commenced.

One person said 'Staff always treat me with respect.'

Other comments included; 'Staff work well with me and my family.'

People said they were involved in discussion and decisions about their future care and support needs. They said they felt as if their wishes had been listened to and acted upon. They said their individual needs were catered for.

Everyone we spoke with said they had a care folder with all the details of their

assessment and care needs. We were told that people felt able to express their views and make choices about their care and support, comments included "I like to get to know my carers and enable them to get to know me. We do not always get the same carers but they all know what to do", 'Staff always do what I ask some are better than others but they are all fine.'

People said that they felt safe in their home and they did not feel in any way threatened or concerned when the care workers were around. They said they felt they were respected and listened to and would say if they felt they were not. They knew they could speak with a manager and would have no problem doing so if they had any concerns.

Everybody we spoke with said they felt fully supported by the care staff. One person told us that the service was very accommodating. For example they would change the times of calls if the need arose. Another person said that the service had greatly improved as they now had more experienced staff who could provide a consistent service even when extra home visits were required.
