During a routine inspection

We were told that staff were kind and respectful and made sure their privacy was respected.

Several people said ''They are kind, helpful and lovely''.

We observed staff treating people that use the service with respect and people were involved in the home and offered choices and this was documented in residents' meetings.

Staff were seen to be communicating with people in a friendly and professional manner.

People who use the service were asked about the food and they commented that the 'food is good' and 'very nice'. People said they enjoyed preparing their own menus and cooking.

Staff when asked knew what people enjoyed to eat and were fully aware of individual preferences.

People told us they were happy with how the home communicates with the doctor and other health care professionals. They can access health care services within the community.

People said that they felt safe living in the home and safe with the people supporting them. Names were given of who they would speak to if they were worried about anything or if they were upset and these included the names of members of staff working in the home or the manager.

People living in the home said that the home was clean and were satisfied with the overall standard of hygiene. A person told us ''it is lovely and clean''.

People told us that they were happy with the way that medicines were managed at the home. We saw that some people were able to take their own medication with support from staff.

We were told people were happy with their bedrooms and appreciated having en-suite facilities. One person told us ''I like my room it is very comfortable''.

Peoples' rooms are personalised with pictures, ornaments, music centres and soft toys. This makes them feel valued.

People in the home said they go out when they wish to at weekends.

Overall people who use the service were satisfied with the service received and the quality of the care. They knew who they would speak to if they had any concerns but they said that there had not been any need to make a complaint.
