During an inspection in response to concerns

People who use Quorn Orchards Care Home said they have had different experiences at meal times and the quality of meals provided. Whilst meal times are not hurried, the service is slow often resulting in people waiting for long time. This is not an enjoyable experience and people have left without eating a meal or having soup or a snack instead. People told us that they have not been asked what they like to eat. Some of the comments received from people during lunch were:

'It's really dry and the meat is chewy'

'We always have to wait'

'I'll tell you what's the problem ' there's no organisation'

'The meat is tough as old boots, would rather eat my shoe'

'The carrots are too hard you can't get your fork into them and the pizza's burnt'

'I've lost my appetite through waiting, there's no organisation'

People who use the service were aware and comfortable with the most of the staff providing care and support to them. Some people were aware that new staff had recently started to work at the home.
