All Inspections

During a routine inspection

People who used the service told us they were satisfied with the service they received. We found that staff took time to explain where possible the options available and supported people to make choices. People told us that they were asked for consent before any care or treatment took place and their wishes respected.

We found the home to be clean and tidy and free from unpleasant odours. There was a system in place for infection control to protect people from the risk of infection.

Staff recruitment records showed that new staff had been thoroughly checked to make sure they were suitable to work with vulnerable people. Systems were in place to monitor the service that people received to ensure that the service was satisfactory and safe. People told us they did not have any complaints but would not hesitate to speak to the manger or staff if they had any concerns.

During an inspection in response to concerns

People said they liked to go out but it depended on the weather. Different activities were organised like going to the shops and these were on a turn taking basis. Sometimes group activities were organised like going to the Chinese for a meal, which some people talked about and were looking forward to.

Some people had individual staff support for a period of time that had been agreed and paid for by the local authority.

Some people wanted to learn to be more independent and maybe move out. They were being supported to learn new skills to work towards this by attending college.

People said that if they needed something they would ask the manager or assistant manager if the manager was not there.

They talked about how they spent their time. People said they had meetings in the home to talk about what they wanted and they also talked about holidays that had been planned.
