The service offered initial consultations where information and advice was given about the procedures available. People's individual requirements and choices were taken into account and one person told us: 'I had all the information I could need'.

The service had adult and child protection policies in place and staff we spoke with knew how to report any suspicions of abuse.

We found that staff had undergone appropriate pre-employment checks to ensure they were of good character and suitable for the job.

People were routinely asked for their comments about their experience of using the service. Analysis of completed questionnaires showed that 97% of people were satisfied with the treatment they received. A range of audits had been carried out for the purpose of identifying any areas requiring improvement.

There was an effective complaints procedure at the service and people had been made aware of how to raise concerns if they wished to.

The people we spoke to who had used the service told us that they were happy with the care they had received and that they had been treated with respect and dignity.

They said that they were fully involved in the decisions that were made and they were provided with enough information to actively participate in the decision making process.

We were told that staff were friendly, supportive and informative.
