During a routine inspection

At the time of our inspection there were two people who lived at the service.

We used observation as due to their health conditions neither of the people who lived at the service were able to talk with us.

Care was planned and delivered to meet each person's individual needs. We saw that there was commitment to keep the people who used the service involved in the local community.

We saw that menus were planned to take the likes and dislikes of the people who lived there into consideration.

The home was clean and tidy throughout and was supported with effective cleaning schedules.

The environment was well maintained and improvements had been made as regulations required following our last inspection.

We saw that the service audited all aspects of care and the running of the home effectively

This service is a small home from home for up to three people. We found this small home for people with learning disabilities had two residents at the time of our visit.

There were two members of staff at the home when we visited. We spoke to both members of staff during the visit.

We saw that the people who lived at the home were treated with dignity and respect. The staff knocked on bedroom doors before they entered the person's room. We saw that people were spoken to kindly and that people were content when the staff were with them.

We found that arrangements for fees were clear and processes were transparent for these payments to be made. We could see that financial arrangements had followed suitable discussions with people and their families.

We saw that care plans were personalised, and supported the care that people needed. We found that professional experts were involved in the care of the people who lived here appropriately. We saw evidence that the service supported people to go to hospital appointments appropriately.

We had some concerns about the building and its upkeep. We found that the lift and people's wheelchairs were well maintained.

The general decor and upkeep of the home had not been well maintained.

We found that the home had suitable systems in place to monitor and assure the quality of care provided. We saw that the service encouraged the families of the people who lived there to visit.

People are well cared for in a warm and homely environment. We saw that staff were cheerful and dedicated and had a good rapport with people living at the home. The home organises a range of activities such as bowling, ice skating and trips to the cinema to enhance people's quality of life.
