All Inspections

During a routine inspection

Prior to our visit we reviewed all the information we had received from the provider. We spoke with three members of staff and the acting manager. We spoke with three people who used the service and observed the support they received from staff. We also looked at some of the records held in the service including the care files for three people.

We saw information in people's care files that showed they had been involved in planning their care and support.

We looked at the care people received. People received care and support as described in their plan of care and that supported their needs. One person said, 'People are supported well at Mill House."

People said they were happy with their rooms and the general facilities the home provided. One person told us how they lived in a bungalow within the grounds, which they said they liked as it allowed them to spend time on their own and to live independently.

We saw that the provider took account of people's views in planning and delivering the service.

During an inspection in response to concerns

Some people chose not to speak to us but the ones that did told us they were happy living at the and felt safe there. They said staff asked them about what support they needed and what they liked to do. One person said, 'They are kind; they do the things I want and help me.' Another person said, 'They are okay.'

People told us how staff offered choice at the home. They said they decided things like the time they got up and went to bed, where they sat and what they ate. Some people said they also took part in things like going shopping, attending a day centre and carrying out household tasks, such as cooking and cleaning their rooms.

People said they were happy with their rooms and the general facilities the home provided. One person told us how they had their own flat, which they said they liked as it allowed them to spend time on their own when they wanted to. When we asked people if there was anything they would like improving at the home they said they could not think of anything.
