People told us they could express their views and were involved in decision making about their care. Their right to self determining in how they lived their lives as valued citizens within the wider community was acknowledged. Where legal requirements restricted peoples choices this was managed very well.

Care plans were individualised and people were supported and encouraged to be involved in the life of the home and were given opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities. 'Staff know I'm aiming to be independent because I discuss this with them at my review meetings'. We were told staff were 'good' and 'helped' them. One person told us 'I like them joining in with what I do. I have done mosaics and I am now doing a body combat class'.

The service worked well with other health and social care professionals to ensure people had all the help they needed.

People received their medication when they needed it. Staff had been trained to do this safely.

People who use the service benefit from staff who had been subject to the necessary character checks to ensure they were fit, trustworthy, qualified and physically and mentally fit to do their job.

The provider had an effective established system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. People were asked for their opinion about the running of the home and their views were taken into account for future planning. .

One person told us about their plan for the future and how this will be achieved with staff support. Staff were described as being 'very good' and 'helpful'. People using the service had access to other health and social care professionals. They had care plans that took into account their aspirations for their future.

People told us staff treated them well and they had no cause for concern. They were confident to raise any concern they had. There were no rigid routines they had to follow. They were cared for by staff that were well trained and were always available to support them all the time.
