All Inspections

4 September 2013

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection to check on the care and welfare of people. On the day of the inspection there were nine people living at the home but they were not all able to verbally express their views so we observed how they were supported. We were able to speak with one person, two members of staff and the manager.

We observed staff asking people for their consent to care, however records did not show written consent to care. Records showed that people's care was planned and delivered appropriately however risks were not identified sufficiently to ensure people's safety.

The provider had appropriate medication processes in place which ensured people received their medicines correctly. One person said, "My medication is given to me by staff and I do feel safe".

The provider had taken appropriate steps to ensure there was enough qualified and skilled staff to care for people. One staff member said, "I do feel I have the skills and knowledge to care for people".

The provider had a complaints procedure in place to allow people to complain or make comments on the service they received.

29 May 2012

During a routine inspection

We visited the home on 29 May 2011. We spoke with four people living at the home, two care workers, the deputy and registered manager. We spoke with four health and social professionals who visited the home. On the day of our visit there were eight people living at the home. There were five care workers on duty as well as the manager.

During our visit we found that care workers treated the person with dignity and respect. Care workers were kind and caring in their approach and supported the person in a respectful manner.

People living at the home were given the opportunity to be involved in how the service was run. Records confirmed that staff had regular meetings with people living at the home to seek their views.

People living at the home told us they were happy living at the home. They told us that they could raise concerns if they had any.

People who lived at the home told us there was enough staff to meet their needs. People told us 'some really nice (staff) 'most of the staff are nice' and 'very friendly and supportive and pleasant they understand how you're feeling.'

People who use the service do not always receive their medicines as prescribed.
