During a routine inspection

People who use the service and their relatives told us that care workers looked after them well, and supported them as and when required to meet their health and social care needs. One relative told us their son was happy with the support he was receiving from care workers. Another relative said their son had come on leaps and bounds since moving into the supported living provision, was eating more and participating in more activities. People told us they could readily contact the care workers’ supervisors if there were any concerns, and concerns raised had always been resolved satisfactorily and promptly.

We found people using the service were involved in decisions about their care and were treated with dignity and respect. They experienced care that met their needs and were cared for by suitably qualified, skilled and experienced care workers. People were protected from the risk of abuse, and the provider had systems in place to monitor the quality of the service people received.

During a routine inspection

All the relatives of the people who use the service we spoke with said that staff who visited them understood their needs and provided care with dignity and respect. One person said their care worker was, “excellent”, and they “never had any complaints”. They said that they felt safe with the staff that cared for them. People said that the manager also visited them and listened to their views about the care they needed.

People said that staff always turned up for visits. “We were given information and they asked for our suggestions”, said one relative whom we spoke with. People received personalised care and support which was based on an assessment of their needs.

We found that people and their relatives were involved in the development of their care plan. Staff were suitably supported, received appropriate training and underwent criminal record checks before commencement of their employment. Care plans were recorded appropriately and stored securely.
