During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with two people who used the service about their care and treatment. Although they had limited communication skills they were able to demonstrate how they made decisions.They told us about things they enjoyed doing and told us they were happy with the care and support they received.

We looked at a range of records in the service which were all readily available, comprehensive and up to date. This showed that the service was well led.

During a routine inspection

During the inspection we spoke with the two people who used the service. They told us that they liked living at Louies Lane. They told us that the care and support they received was good.

One person who used the service told us they helped choose what they would be eating each day. They told us, "We pick one day each."

The people we spoke with who used the service told about things they enjoyed doing. This included shopping, making models ships, going to the local shops for a magazine and out to a leisure event in the evenings.

Procedures were in place to ensure the safety of people who used the service, and staff all received suitable training.

Comprehensive care plans were in plan which included risk assessments. This ensured that identified needs were met safely.

During a routine inspection

One person we spoke to was very positive about the support they receive. They also told us that "Staff take me on holiday every year." They also told us that staff are "Kind to me."

One person told us that staff took them out to visit places of personal interest and to pursue their individual hobbies.

The person we spoke to stated that if they had a problem that they would "Tell the manager and that they would sort it out."

We spoke to one person about their care plan. They knew where to find it and had signed it to say they were happy with its content.

During a routine inspection

People we spoke to were very positive about the support they receive. One person told us that "The staff are kind and help me with my washing and cleaning." Another person told us that " Staff take me on holiday and they work very hard."

We were told that people are supported to carry out their daily routines with staff support and encouragement.

One person we spoke to told us that they are supported to be more independent. They told us that they are helped to plan trips on holiday and to visit their relatives. They also told us that they were able to follow their own routines such as attending social clubs and to go out on shopping trips with staff.

The people living within Louies Lane and Roydon Road stated that if they had a problem that the "Staff are there to help them."

We spoke to two people about their care plans and they both knew what a care plan

was.They also confirmed that they had been involved with the planning of their care.
