During a routine inspection

The home cares for and supports people with a wide range of complex needs. People who used the service had limited communication. We were unable to find out their views and experiences through discussion. We observed care given by care staff. We saw that people smiled and appeared relaxed and comfortable with staff and others living in the home. During our inspection we saw that people received good care.

We looked at compliments received from relatives. Comments included " Thanks to all of those involved in (name of person)'s care" and "Name of person always happy and dad was please with the care provided."

We looked at staff files and we found that required checks were not all completed prior to new staff members starting work with vulnerable people.

During a routine inspection

People who use the service have limited communication. We were unable to find out their views and experiences through discussion, although one person confirmed they liked the staff and enjoyed living at the home.

We observed staff treat people with respect. Care practices were of a good standard.

Staff interaction was good and it was evident they knew the people they were supporting very well. Staff asked people what they wanted to do and offered people appropriate support.

Staff told us people received good care and people's needs were met. They said people get good support with their healthcare needs and other professionals were always consulted.

Staff said they received appropriate support from the manager. They said the manager spent time working directly with people who use the service and alongside staff; so understood what happened at the home.
