All Inspections

20 August 2013

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection to check whether people received appropriate care and treatment. We spoke with one person who used the service, three staff members and the manager.

One person told us, 'It's been fine, they are really good.' Records showed that people received appropriate advice, treatment and counselling.

Arrangements were in place to ensure that medicines were stored, administered and disposed of appropriately. Systems were in place to carry out regular checks around medicines.

The suitability of premises had been considered in the way that the service was provided. There were areas where people could have confidential discussions with staff.

Selection and recruitment processes were robust and consistent to ensure staff employed were suitable to provide care and treatment.

Records were fit for purpose and detailed with appropriate archiving arrangements. Records adhered to the requirements around termination of pregnancies.

29 January 2013

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection, to check whether people received appropriate care and treatment. We spoke with one person who used the service, and three staff members.

We found that people were asked for their consent before any treatment was provided.

Records showed that treatment options were discussed with people in detail. We found that people had access to different treatment, advice, screening tests, and leaflets that would enable them to make choices that met their needs.

Arrangements were in place to ensure that people were protected from harm. We found that the service was proactive at signposting people to other organisations and support groups, when needed.

We spoke with staff members, who told us they were fully supported to carry out their role. One staff member said, 'They always encourage us to attend training.'

We found that systems were in place for people to complain if they were unhappy with the service.

20 March and 18 September 2012

During a themed inspection looking at Termination of Pregnancy Services

We did not speak to people who used this service as part of this review. We looked at a random sample of medical records. This was to check that current practice ensured that no treatment for the termination of pregnancy was commenced unless two certificated opinions from doctors had been obtained.
