During a routine inspection

Choices Home Support provides predominantly privately funded care for people within their own homes. This means that people can remain in their own environment whilst being supported by carers at various times throughout the day. The service offers personal and practical care support alongside domestic services to maximise their independence.

People who use the service can request specific time slots and their preference for male or female carers' and the service would try to accommodate these requests where possible.

People told us: "I like coming here (to the office) for a cup of tea". "I like X she looks after me well".

Staff told us: "I am very happy working here and enjoy my work". "I have my own clients and they are like family to me I always refer to them as 'mine'". "I like to feel I make a difference especially to the people with complex needs like Dementia, I want them to feel cared for and understood".

During an inspection in response to concerns

We were told that although different carers may attend the clients' homes, they are always known to the client. The clients know they can telephone the provider at any time for advice. We heard that the times the carers arrive can vary if they are delayed, but we were told that in general the correct amount of care was provided. We heard that staff would do anything for a client, with comments made such as 'They're great, very good staff' and 'I really like them.'
