All Inspections

4 April 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people who lived at the home and two relatives and friends. All of the people we spoke with were happy with the care they received. One person told us: 'It is lovely here, there are no problems whatsoever.' Another said: 'The care here is second to none.' People were happy with the standard of food provided and told us there were choices available.

We found the home to be clean throughout and the home had policies and procedures in place for the prevention and control of infection.

We found there were quality assurance systems in place to monitor the health and safety aspects of the home. The manager also carried out regular surveys and meetings to gain people's views on the organisation of the home.

At a previous inspection 31 October 2012, we had minor concerns regarding care plans and risk assessments not always being updated. At this inspection we found that the records were up to date and people's needs were clearly identified.

31 October 2012

During a routine inspection

Our observations indicated that staff were attentive and had a caring attitude towards the people who used the service.

We spoke to three people who used the service. They said they were well looked after and happy with the service received. They were positive about the staff who supported them.

We spoke to four relatives who told us that they were happy with the care and support provided. They said they were kept informed about their relatives' well-being. They described the staff as professional, caring and attentive.

There were practices in place to ensure that the people who used the service were respected and that they were involved in the delivery of the service they received as far as this was possible.

Records showed that people had been assessed before they began to use the service.

The staff were provided with the support they needed to enable them to meet the needs of the people who used the service.

We found that there had been improvements to the systems in place to monitor the quality of the service. Where issues had been identified action was taken or was planned to address any shortfalls.

Improvements were needed to care planning and risk assessment records to ensure staff had access to all the information they needed to support the people who used the service.

We asked Wirral LINKs and Wirral Borough Council for information about how the service operated. No current information was available at the time of writing this report.
