6 August 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

Our inspection of 3 May 2013 found areas of non compliance. We completed a follow up inspection on 6 August 2013 to check that improvements had been made.

We found that the provider had made improvements to the way they supported their staff. The provider had taken appropriate steps to implement effective systems to train and supervise their staff. We were satisfied that the provider had taken all necessary actions to meet with the regulations for supporting workers.

3 May 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with four people who used the service and asked them to tell us how they felt they were being cared for. One person told us, 'People are kind here.' Another said, 'Excellent." We asked people how they felt the staff treated them. One person said, "Can't fault them."

We saw that staff asked the people who used the service if they wished to participate in activities and receive support to meet their personal needs. We observed that staff gave people choices.

The service had good medication management procedures in place to ensure that people were safe. There had been three complaints in the past 12 months which the service responded to appropriately which showed that people's complaints were addressed.

We found shortfalls in the provider's support of their staff in terms of supervision, annual appraisals and training provision.

16 October 2012

During an inspection looking at part of the service

People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plans. During our visit we looked at six people's care records. Each record seen showed that care was assessed, planned and monitored, ensuring that each person's care met their individual needs.
