All Inspections

26 November 2013

During a routine inspection

We reviewed the care and treatment records of three people currently receiving treatment and spoke with one one person. We found people's notes were being completed and had been audited to ensure all details required had been recorded. The person we spoke with told us they had been very pleased with their treatment so far. They had no complaints and were always asked for their consent to treatment each time they returned to the clinic.

People who used the clinic experienced effective, safe and appropriate care and treatment that meet their needs and protect their rights. People were protected against the risks associated with medicines because the provider had appropriate arrangements in place to manage medicines.

The provider had effective recruitment and selection processes in place. Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.

People were protected from unsafe or unsuitable equipment. They also benefitted from safe quality treatments and were supported to make effective and appropriate decisions about what they received.

During a routine inspection

It was not possible to speak to people who used the service as no one had an appointment booked during the inspection.

Staff explained the process for obtaining informed consent. We reviewed the records of five people receiving treatments registered by the Care Quality Commission. We found that people had consented and been involved in decisions about their care and treatment. People did not always have a 'cooling off' period and did not receive or offered a copy of their signed consent form in accordance with best practice.

We sampled five treatment records that showed that people's needs were assessed and that the treatment was delivered in line with their individual treatment plan and expectations. There were no details of follow up arrangements following treatment.

There were effective systems in place to ensure that the clinic was clean, hygienic and fit for purpose. The areas we saw in the clinic were clean.

Sufficient staff were employed to be able to provide the services offered at times convenient to the people.

People's complaints were fully investigated and resolved, where possible, to their satisfaction. However, people did not have easy access to the complaints procedure. The clinic manager showed us that the clinic had an effective complaints process.

27 February 2012

During a routine inspection

We were only able to speak to one person briefly on our visit due to clinic appointment times and there being only one nurse performing treatments at that time.

They told us they had no problems with the clinic. They tended to have the same therapist do their treatment and that they were very pleased with the service they had received. They did tell us that laser hair removal could be a bit addictive when you got started hence they had returned for more treatments. They told us that they had been very pleased with the results.
