All Inspections

1 March 2012

During a routine inspection

People told us 'Staff are very good, they cheer me up, I can't see what they could do better'.

A relative told us 'Staff have a good rapport with people. They treat my relative very well'.

We saw that people could choose to spend time in the different lounge areas or they could spend time in their own room. Relatives visited throughout the day and there was a friendly atmosphere.

People usually stay at the home for up to six weeks. There were twenty one people living there when we visited and two new admissions took place. People's progress is reviewed each week by the staff team. This ensures that their needs are being met.

People told us that their rooms are kept clean and tidy. This ensures the risk of infection is minimised.

People told us the food is excellent. We saw that four choices were offered at meal times so that people were able to have meals that they enjoyed.

Medication management does not fully ensure that people get their medication as prescribed.

Some further training and awareness was needed so all staff can be confident in dealing with any concerns that may arise with people's care.

People told us that staff and managers are friendly and approachable and they could talk to them if they had concerns.
