All Inspections

During a routine inspection

During the inspection we sampled six care files from across the two units of the home. We found that care files did not contain any documentation to demonstrate that consent had been obtained, from either people who used the service, next of kin or representatives, to the implemented plans of care.

Care files contained initial assessments of personal or nursing care needs and risk assessments that had been transferred into care plans for each aspect of care provided. These had been reviewed on a monthly basis. We noted that nursing care had been provided as planned. Health professional visits had been documented.

We found that The Old Vicarage had appropriate systems in place which ensured staff were recruited and employed safely and effectively.

We reviewed how complaints were managed at the home. We found that there was a complaints procedure available for residents and relatives. This gave information on how to make a complaint and how the home would be expected to respond.

We found that care was provided in an environment that was clean and free from malodours. When we spoke with people who used the service comments included: "My room is kept clean and tidy", "I don't have any complaints about the cleanliness". When we spoke with relatives no concerns were raised in regards to this standard.

People told us that the staff team treat them with respect and dignity. One person told us that she 'could not be better looked after if she were royalty' and another person told us that staff would do things differently for them if they asked.
