During a routine inspection

We visited the office and talked with the registered manager. We spoke with four people who used the service by telephone following our visit.

People we spoke with were complimentary overall and happy with the care and support they received. They told us, 'Staff are very good and I have no qualms about the care I receive', 'I am very pleased with the service', 'I have never had any problems' and 'They always do what I need them to do for me'. One person told us that they had spoken to the manager about an issue and felt that she would, 'Sort it out for them'.

We found that staff had up to date training, but had not received appropriate supervision.

We saw that there were no systems in place to monitor or review the quality of the service.

We found that records were not always kept up to date or stored appropriately.

During a routine inspection

We contacted people who used the service by telephone to ask them their opinions. We spoke with were complimentary and told us that they were very happy with the service. Comments included "I cannot fault them" and "I wouldn't be without them.

People said that they would recommend Abbey J & G as a care agency and that "They couldn't wish for a better service". They told us that care staff arrived on time and always stayed the full length of time. One person said "If they have time they will stay and talk to us".

People told us that they felt they were well supported and they would recommend the service. One person said "You are treated like a real person and they really care. They are like family".
