During a routine inspection

In general people who use the service and their family members told us that as far as possible, they were involved in needs assessment and care planning processes and that staff actively listened to and consulted them in decision making about their care and daily lives at the home.

In general, people told us that they were given opportunities to consent their care. One family member of a person told us that 'her consent is sought in relation to care and support options the home is considering'. A relative of another person told us that 'the home made us aware of what services they can offer'.

However, one person told us that 'I like most of the things but, I am not happy about small things like news paper. I have not got my news paper for sometime'.

One person we spoke to during our visit had visible bruising but was not aware of when and how she got the bruises. There was an incident record stating the bruise had been noted, but it did not say how it had happened or why healthcare professionals were not contacted.

People told us that they felt safe and that they feel comfortable to express their views and concerns. They told us they knew who to complain to if they have concerns and were clear that it would be actioned appropriately.

People were happy with the way their medication was managed and that it was given on time.
