During a routine inspection

The people we spoke with told us they were "very happy" with the support provided and said the service provided a "reliable" and "helpful" service and that they provided a "very good" and "spot on" standard of care. People said they had been included in agreeing the care to be provided by the service and had a copy of their own care records and had "good information" in the service guide.

Everyone we spoke with who was using the service told us they felt safe receiving care from the agency staff and that it was a "very friendly" and "supportive" service and one person told us that "There is never any problem as they do what I have asked." People using the service also confirmed that they "always" knew who was coming to visit them in advance and there was good continuity with regular staff who knew them well. One person told us, "Quite candidly I can say I am satisfied and quite content with the way things are."

People we spoke with told us they knew who they could speak to if they had a concern or complaint and said they would be confident raising concerns with the manager of the agency. We were told, and could see, that quality was monitored by the providers and that people were being asked for their views. People told us that the manager visited them and observed and supervised staff working there and "checked everything was as it should be."

During a routine inspection

We contacted three people as part of this review and asked them about the care and support staff provide. This included discussions about care plans, medication, staff qualities, manual handling and consultation.

One person explained that they were 'aware of the care plan' and is 'independent in some areas and the staff just support them when they ask'. They do not require assistance with medication. They also said the staff are 'very helpful and help in anyway they can. They know what they are doing and respect my wishes'.

Another person described having a care plan and knew who to talk to if they needed to change things. Their spouse described how they had chosen to deal with all medication issues.

Another person confirmed they were aware of their care plan and 'contributed to it', they said it was 'more then adequate and they receive a good service.' They said 'so far I am happy with the service, no concerns'.

They also confirmed their wish to self medicate was respected.

They described having 'three regular care staff who are all good and one is exceptional. They understand their role and responsibilities'.
