All Inspections

19 July 2013

During a routine inspection

Community Support Team is registered to provide the regulated activity of personal care. We found during the inspection that no one who used the service was receiving personal care, all were receiving community support. We spoke with the manager, two office based staff, one support worker and the parents of one person who was being provided with community support. All confirmed that no personal care was being provided.

We found that people being provided with support had detailed person centred care records in place, which had been regularly reviewed and updated.

We found that there were good systems in place for working with and involving other health care professionals.

The actual premise was suitable for purpose and appropriately maintained. There was however the need for staff who used the premise to undertake some fire awareness training.

There were good systems in place for updating staff training and for supporting staff through supervision and appraisal.

Records were accessible and appropriately stored although some additional security measures were being put in place.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with the manager and four members of staff about the services provided by the Community Support Team. We were told that people were supported to develop their confidence and independance. Much of the support that was given to people was community support, such as supporting people with social involvement including, shopping, swimming and attending social events. It also included supporting people to develop confidence with other skills, such as budgeting and using public transport. We found that people who use the service provided by the Community Support Team did not have personal care needs, as defined by the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
