During a routine inspection

During our inspection of Acorn Supported Living we visited one house where people lived who received support from the service. The people we spoke to told us they felt involved, and were happy, with the support provided to them. We were told,

"I go through things with (key worker) every month. We talk about it and I say what I think".

and,

'I'm quite independent, but I get the help I need they are there when I need them.'

We saw that relevant checks had been made by the service to ensure that staff were suitable for their role.

A number of systems were in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of the service provided. This included an accessible complaints procedure which was available to people in the homes in which they lived. One person told us, "I don't want to complain about anything. But I'd just tell (staff member) and they would help me."

We spoke with three people using the service who provided us with very positive feedback about Acorn Supported Living Scheme Limited. They told us privacy; dignity and independence were important aspects of the support provided. When asked about the staff their comments included:

'Staff are good and friendly' and 'they listen to me' and 'I like the staff'

'She's a good friend, nice key worker, friendly person'.

When asked about the house we were told 'We are given choices about meals, shopping, holidays we do things together' and

'It's a nice place to live, easy for the shops'.
