People’s care plans were written in a person-centred way and included people’s holistic needs. People’s preferences and wishes were met and staff were responsive to people’s needs in a timely manner. People were involved in planning and making decisions about their care and treatment this meant care was centred around people and their specific needs. People were observed receiving person-centred care, people were treated with dignity and respect.

Person-centred Care

People told us they received good person-centred care and staff treated people with kindness and dignity. One person told us, "The difference when [person] came here and the treatment and care she receives has made them a new person." People were at the centre of their own care and treatment.

Staff were responsive to people’s needs using a person-centred approach. Staff and management ensured people’s care plans fully reflected their holistic needs and these were reviewed regularly. One staff member told us, “We have resident of the day. Each day we have a different resident and this is their day when we give their bedroom a deep clean, review their care plan and risk assessment with them if possible and do their health checks.” Staff understood what person-centred care meant, they told us how focus was on the person, knowing people’s life histories, understanding people’s individual needs and involving them and their families in their care.

On the day of inspection we saw staff delivering person-centred care.
