During a routine inspection

We were able to speak with three people during our visit to the office of Sevacare Oldham Learning Disabilities Services. They were in the office for a tenants forum meeting. All the people we spoke with received assistance from Sevacare Oldham Learning Disabilities Service on a daily basis. Although more people were present at the time of our visit some people did not feel comfortable speaking with people they did not know.

Two people said they saw the same care worker on most occasions, and they always came at the correct time. The third person said that although they were informed in advance who was coming, they sometimes saw new people which they did not like. Everyone told us that care workers had time to do everything they needed to and if there was time left during the visits they were able to go out, which they enjoyed. One person said that they were able to go out alone, but given the choice they would have a care worker with them. Everyone said they were given a choice of what they did during the time they received support from their care worker.

The three people we spoke with were able to say exactly what care and assistance they required from care workers. They said that this was regularly discussed with them, and they knew that care workers wrote down what had been discussed in the paperwork that was kept in their homes. Everyone said they were treated well, with one person saying of the care workers "They're pretty good really". People told us that they felt safe with their care workers and they knew there was someone they could tell if they had any concerns.
