Our view of the service

Royal Garden Hotel is a 'care home'. We carried out our on-site assessment on 23 January 2024, off site assessment activity started on 2 January 2024 and ended on 13 March 2024. We looked at 5 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control and Equity in experiences and outcomes. Following this assessment the service has received a rating of good for all quality statements assessed.

People's experience of this service

People at Royal Garden Hotel had minimal personal care needs. People had mental capacity and were able to be fully involved with their care. People told us the care was good and they had no concerns. People said they had participated in their care planning needs and met with the manager to update these as needed. Most people did not need help from staff to move about the home and people were able to leave the home as they wished to walk along the seafront or visit the local shops. People’s care plans reflected these positive risks. Staff knew people well and encouraged people to live lives as independently as possible, for example managing their own medicines. Some people were able to make snacks and drinks in their rooms. People told us they could speak to the manager at any time, and said staff knew how to keep them safe, for example people used mobile phones and signed in and out of the home to ensure staff knew who was in the home at any time.
