England’s Chief Inspector of General Practice at the Care Quality Commission has again rated Preston GP Practice, Dr Khin Thanda, also known as Avenham Lane Practice, as Inadequate and it remains in special measures.

The practice was first rated as Inadequate and placed into special measures in March 2017. At this most recent inspection in September, CQC again rated the practice as Inadequate.

A new provider is currently in the process of taking over the registration, and the service will be kept under review whilst this process is completed.

Alison Holbourn, Deputy Chief Inspector of General Practice at CQC, said:

“We found that people registered with Dr Khin Thanda’s practice still aren’t getting the high quality care which they should expect to receive. There were areas where we required the practice to improve following our last inspection but they have not always been able to implement the required changes."

“Although we found that the practice had taken steps to address some of our previous concerns, we found that significant concerns remained, and we also identified new shortcomings relating to the clinical care of patients."

“We have taken steps to stop this provider from operating and are working closely with local partners to ensure people’s safety whilst the new provider is registered.”

A full report of this inspection has been published on our website.
