The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated Radfield Home Care Loughborough, Charnwood & Melton Mowbray as outstanding following its first inspection in January.
Radfield Home Care, which is the trading name of A&J Assisted Living, is a domiciliary care agency providing care and support to people living in their own homes.
This was CQC’s first inspection of the service since it had been registered. While Radfield Home Care supported other people, CQC only assessed the care and support provided to the 27 people who received the regulated activity of personal care.
CQC has rated how caring and well-led the service is as outstanding, and how safe, effective and responsive it is as good.
Greg Rielly, CQC’s deputy director of adult social care in the east midlands, said:
“Radfield Home Care was providing exceptional care and support that put people at the heart of the care it delivered. This was made possible thanks to the commitment of a strong leadership team as well as staff who built meaningful relationships with the people they support.
“People using the service were delighted with their care and support and spoke highly of the relationships they had built with staff. They told us the service had a positive impact on their lives, and staff went above and beyond to meet their needs.
“Throughout the inspection, we found staff communicated well with people, which helped them understand people’s preferences and improve their care and support. Leaders ensured staffing was consistent, meaning people received care from staff with whom they had built strong relationships with. Leaders gave staff the time to provide companionship and build these relationships during visits. They also closely reviewed call times and attendance to make sure people received support effectively.
“We also found staff assessed people’s needs comprehensively and considered their mobility, communication preferences and protected characteristics, while factoring in their home environment and involving family members where appropriate. They continually reviewed people’s care needs to ensure their support remained effective.
“It was encouraging to hear how staff listened to concerns about safety and investigated and reported safety events or incidents. Managers closely reviewed incidents to identify risks and patterns and decided if they needed to take any action, such as contacting external healthcare professionals.
“Staff and leaders at Radfield Home Care should be delighted with the many positive findings in our report, and we look forward to seeing their continued progress.”
Inspectors found:
