Today over 100 CQC staff members will visit care homes across the country in support of Care Home Open Day 2016.

Care Home Open Day is an annual event, inviting care homes across the country to open their doors to their local communities.

Thousands of care homes in the UK take part each year, arranging activities to demonstrate how residential and nursing homes can be at the heart of the community all year round.

Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care, Andrea Sutcliffe, who will be visiting Vida Hall, Rosevale and St John’s House in Yorkshire on the day, said: “Care Home Open Day is a great opportunity for us to recognise the hard work of managers and staff across the country and celebrate the positive experiences that everyone living in a care home deserves.

“Care Home Open Day is a one-off event but we know the best care homes engage with their local community throughout the year and listen and consistently act on the views of people using services, their families and carers, day in, day out – which is what we all want to see.”
